AZA Awareness Campaign ☼
The purpose of the AZA Awareness Campaign was to partner with an organization of interest and use design and research to work towards implementing a solution that fixed a problem of significance they had. With the NEW Zoo & Adventure Park as my partner, the goal of the project became to raise awareness about what it means for zoos to be accredited by the AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) by designing a solution that could self-educate the public and raise support for other accredited, modern day zoos that take care of animals and educate the public the right way.
Upon conducting a series of surveys to individuals of varying age groups that were and were not visitors of the NEW Zoo, the majority of respondents answered that they did not know what AZA meant, nor did they recognize places where it was being displayed.
A 20 x 30 inch poster and a three-slide carousel social media post were created to combat this issue and increase awareness. Both the poster and social media post include information about what the AZA is and what they do, a map of institutions accredited by the AZA in the U.S., what being accredited specifically means for the NEW Zoo, and stylized imagery of zoo animals. The fonts and colors adhere to the NEW Zoo’s brand standards also.
